Our exceptional locations provide a world apart from everyday life.
In this comprehensive guide, we will explore everything Bingin Beach has to offer. You will discover why this cliffside village is the perfect spot for your next incredible vacation.
Why Bingin Beach is Bali’s Best Kept Secret
Many travelers ask what makes Bingin Beach so special. The answer lies in its atmosphere. It is one of the few places left in Bali that feels authentic yet sophisticated. The “Bingin vibe” is laid-back and effortless. Here, the days are measured by the tides and the sunsets.
When you stay at The Island Houses, you immerse yourself in this tranquil environment. Our properties are designed to offer a piece of paradise. We focus on exceptional locations that allow you to reconnect with nature without sacrificing comfort.
The Allure of the Bingin Beach Surf
Surfing is the heartbeat of Bingin Beach. The waves here are legendary among the global surfing community. The reef break produces a perfectly hollow left-hander. It is consistent, fast, and exhilarating.
Surfing for Pros and Intermediates
The main break at Bingin is best suited for intermediate to advanced surfers. During mid-tide, the wave offers a rideable barrel that is world-famous. If you are a seasoned pro, you will love the precision required to navigate the shallow reef.
Learning to Surf
Do not worry if you are a beginner. While the main peak is challenging, nearby spots like Dreamland or Padang Padang Rights are perfect for learners. You can easily find local instructors on the sand. They will guide you through the basics of catching your first wave in the warm Indian Ocean.
Sun, Sand, and Serenity: The Bingin Shoreline
The physical beauty of Bingin Beach is unmatched. As you descend the winding cliffside stairs, the view opens up to reveal a stunning vista.
White Limestone Cliffs: The dramatic backdrop creates a sense of seclusion.
Turquoise Tide Pools: During low tide, the reef reveals crystal-clear pools. These are perfect for a refreshing soak.
Golden Sands: The beach is intimate and cozy, ideal for sunbathing with a good book.
The Island Houses ensures that your transition from the beach to your private villa is seamless. We provide a sanctuary where simple luxury meets the raw beauty of the coast.
Where to Eat: Culinary Delights at Bingin Beach
Despite its small size, Bingin Beach boasts a vibrant food scene. The cliffside is dotted with “warungs” (local cafes) and trendy bistros.
Fresh Seafood Barbecues
As evening approaches, the smell of grilled fish fills the air. Local vendors set up tables directly on the sand. You can choose your catch of the day, from snapper to jumbo prawns. Enjoying a seafood feast while the waves lap at your feet is a mandatory Bingin experience.
Healthy Brunches and Smoothie Bowls
For the health-conscious traveler, Bingin offers many organic options. You can find delicious acai bowls, smashed avocado toast, and locally grown Balinese coffee. These spots provide the perfect fuel for a day of exploring the Bukit Peninsula.

While it is tempting to stay in your villa all day, the surrounding area is full of wonders. Bingin Beach serves as an excellent base for exploring the southern tip of Bali.
Uluwatu Temple
Only a short drive away, the Uluwatu Temple sits on a 70-meter-high cliff. It is one of Bali’s six key spiritual pillars. Visit at sunset to witness the traditional Kecak Fire Dance. The performance against the backdrop of the setting sun is unforgettable.
Padang Padang Beach
Known for its appearance in “Eat Pray Love,” this beach is nestled in a small bay. It is accessible through a narrow rock entrance. The water is calm and perfect for swimming.
Thomas Beach
If you want even more seclusion, head to Thomas Beach. It is one of the quietest stretches of sand in the area. It is perfect for those who want to escape the crowds entirely.

Essential Tips for Your Visit
To make the most of your trip to Bingin Beach, keep these tips in mind:
Pack Light: The stairs leading down to the beach are steep. While our staff can assist with luggage, traveling light makes the journey easier.
Bring Cash: Many smaller warungs do not accept credit cards. There are ATMs in the main Uluwatu area, but it is best to be prepared.
Rent a Scooter: This is the most popular way to get around the Bukit. It gives you the freedom to explore nearby beaches and cafes at your own pace.
Check the Tide Charts: The beach changes dramatically between high and low tide. Plan your swims and surf sessions accordingly.

Bingin Beach is a photographer’s dream. The contrast between the blue water and the white limestone is stunning.
